Frequently Asked Questions

Extended answers to the things people most often ask about 杉厘科技 and the Translate app.

Using the site

Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up flow, no login, no profile. Open /Translate/ and go.
Is it free?
Yes. The site is free to use. It is supported by contextual advertising delivered through Google AdSense.
Which browsers work?
Any modern browser: recent versions of Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Edge on desktop and mobile. Very old browsers may have trouble with the clipboard-copy button; you can still select and copy manually.
Does it work on mobile?
Yes. The interface adapts to phone-size screens.

Translation quality and languages

How many languages are supported?
Fourteen target languages, plus auto-detect for the source. See Supported Languages for the full list.
Which translation engine is behind the tool?
Your text is forwarded to a large-language-model translation service called DeepSeek. Full details are in the Privacy Policy.
Is the translation always accurate?
No. Machine translation is best for gist, casual messages, and general context. It can fail on idioms, legal or medical wording, rare dialects, and cultural nuance. Always double-check important translations with a professional.
Why did I get an error?
The upstream service can rate-limit requests, temporarily go down, or reject input that triggers a safety filter. Try again in a moment, shorten the input, or rephrase.
Can I translate a whole document at once?
Not reliably. There are practical size limits. Paste a few paragraphs at a time.

Privacy and data handling

Does 杉厘科技 store the text I translate?
No. Our server does not persist your text. It is forwarded to the upstream translation service and the response is returned to you. Details are on the Privacy Policy page.
Is my text sent to a third party?
Yes. Translations are produced by DeepSeek. If that matters to your use case, please review DeepSeek's own policies before submitting sensitive content.
Are there cookies?
杉厘科技 does not set first-party cookies for tracking. Third-party ad services (Google AdSense) may set their own cookies. You can adjust ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.
Do you use Google Analytics or a similar tool?
Not currently. The only third-party JavaScript on the tool pages is the Google AdSense ad loader.

Ads and monetization

Why are there ads?
Ads pay for the site's hosting and upstream API costs. Without them, we would have to charge, add a login, or shut the tool down.
Do ads influence the translation output?
No. Ads and translation are completely separate systems. The translator receives your text and returns a translation without any advertiser involvement.
Can I remove the ads?
There is no paid ad-free plan today. You may of course use a browser extension of your choice — that is your call as a user.

How do I report a bug?
